Tesla faults we are often asked about

  •  Creaks or knocks from the suspension
  •  Door handles that will not open
  •  Windows that will not close properly
  •  Touchscreen and other electrical faults
  •  Heating or air conditioning not working
  •  Warning messages on the screen
  •  Uneven tyre wear

Common Tesla Faults We Fix

Suspension noises

Creaks and knocks over bumps or when steering usually come from worn suspension arms, links or bushes. We replace the worn parts and carry out a four-wheel alignment afterwards.

Door handles, windows and screens

Door handles that will not open, windows that will not close properly, and touchscreen and other electrical faults.

Heating and air conditioning

Heater, heat pump and air conditioning faults, from no heat in winter to a system that will not cool.

Brakes

Regenerative braking means the brakes are used less, so discs and calipers can corrode or stick. We clean, lubricate and replace them as needed.

High-Voltage Tesla Repairs

High-voltage work is carried out in our own workshop by IMI Level 4 qualified EV technicians.

Battery

High-voltage battery diagnostics and repair, and battery health checks with a state-of-health report.

Charging

Charge port and on-board charger faults, where the car will not charge or charging stops.

Drive unit

Diagnosis and repair of drive unit (motor) faults.

Control units and electronics

Faults with the control units and electronics that run the car's systems.

Tesla's battery and drive unit warranty runs for 8 years, with a mileage limit that depends on the model. If your car is still covered, check with Tesla first, as the fault may be theirs to fix. Once the warranty has ended, we can diagnose and repair it here.

Tesla Diagnostics & Repair Lincoln

Our team enjoy a challenge: no issue is too big or small. We have extensive knowledge and experience of vehicle diagnostics, including Tesla diagnostics, and diagnostic equipment for all Tesla systems. This is how we approach a fault.

1

Scan for fault codes

We start by reading the fault codes stored in the car. They tell us where to look, but not always what has failed.

2

Read the live data

We look at what the car's own systems are reporting and how components are talking to each other.

3

Test the circuits and components

We test the wiring and the parts involved. Where needed, the high-voltage system is made safe and the component is removed for testing.

4

Explain the options

You get a clear explanation of what we found and what it will cost. No repairs are carried out without your authorisation.

Where possible, we will present repair options rather than simply replacing everything.

HEVRA logo

Qualified to Work on High-Voltage Vehicles

Hybrid and electric vehicles run at voltages that are dangerous to work on without the right training and equipment. Our EV technicians are IMI Level 4 qualified in the diagnosis, testing and repair of electric and hybrid vehicles. That is the level for fault-finding and repair on the high-voltage system itself, not just routine maintenance around it.

We are also a member of HEVRA, the Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Repair Alliance. HEVRA checks that its member garages have the right qualifications, tools and equipment to service and repair electric and hybrid vehicles.
