What does a Diagnostic Check do?

A Mercedes diagnostic check is carried out on your vehicle by one of our specialists, who will plug your vehicle into a specialised code reader. It can detect problems with your vehicle which can be challenging to spot manually.

However, sometimes 'plugging it in' to the computer isn't enough. We therefore have a full toolkit of equipment that can help - such as smoke machines, oscilloscopes, multimeters, pressure gauges and more. 

Additionally, we use the Mercedes Star diagnostic equipment as well as Autologic and other dealer level tools to help aid our diagnosis. 

 

The Main Components which are tested in a Diagnostic Check are the following:

  • Electronic control units (ECUs) - these control various element of the car and its performance including engine running
    emissions and exhaust sensors
  • Braking system
  • Electrical components such as central door locking
  • Transmission if electronically controlled
  • Ignition coils
  • Throttle setting
  • Fuel injectors
  • Air flow and coolant

Once your diagostic check is complete, we will then advise you as to either what the issue is, or what is required to identify the issue.
