What is Wheel Alignment?
4-Wheel alignment (sometimes referred to as tracking) should be part of the standard vehicle maintenance undertaken on your Land Rover. It involves adjusting the steering & suspension geometry angles of the wheels to the recommended position as outlined in a vehicle’s manufacturer specification. It will ensure the optimum performance and handling of your Land Rover whilst on the road.
Dack Motor Group is fully equipped with the latest alignment technology that allows us to identify any problems with your tracking and resolve it as quickly as we can.
Do I Need Land Rover Front Wheel Alignment?
If your car is pulling to one side when driving or if you have to hold the steering off centre to keep going straight, you probably have a wheel alignment issue. This means that your wheels are not making the right contact with the road or you have imbalanced steering.
Your tracking could be incorrect if you feel that your Land Rover:
- Has uneven or abnormal tyre wear
- Is dragging or pulling one side
- Has a steering wheel vibration
- Has a scrubbing or squealing noise at low speeds
What Causes Misalignment?
It is surprisingly easy for the wheels on your car to become misaligned. Commonly, misalignment is caused by hitting the kerb whilst driving or parking.
Accidents, road conditions and potholes are also all high contributors to knocking the tracking off your car.
What are the benefits of wheel alignment?
Reduced Tyre Wear: Improper alignment is a big cause of tyres wearing out too quickly. Over the years, having a properly aligned car can add thousands of miles to tyre life.
Improved Fuel Consumption: When your tracking is correct, fuel consumption reduces as the drag on the tyres (rolling resistance) decreases. Four wheel alignment sets the wheels straight/parallel, which along with correct tyre pressures, minimises the rolling resistance.
Saves Money & Environment: By extending the life of your tyres (and early tyre disposal) and improving fuel economy.
Improved Handling: Many handling and steering issues can be resolved by wheel alignment, giving you the driver a safer and more enjoyable driving experience.
Safer Driving: Misalignment will make the car less stable when taking emergency or sudden actions. A suspension system inspection is part of an alignment procedure.
How Often Does Wheel Alignment need to be checked?
Tyre manufacturers recommend alignment to prolong the life of your tyres when they are first fitted. If you feel your steering or tyres don't feel right, or you have uneven tyre wear, this is the time to get your alignment checked.
